SSC is pleased to have been engaged to deliver services to victims of crime as part of a pioneering new initiative led by the Devon & Cornwall Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner.
In response to an assessment of victims’ needs in 2014, the Victim Care Unit was established and launched in April 2015, supported by a network of service providers across the peninsula. The unit provides immediate support and referral to organisations with consent and acts as a point of information for all victims with both police and third sector specialists.
Having passed the initial evaluation and accreditation process with the OPCC in April 2015, SSC partners work in partnership to deliver a rich and diverse range of services to those accessing the network who have been affected by crime. Services include counselling, skills development, vocational training, equine therapy, advocacy, mentoring and more.
SSC and its delivery partners look forward to continuing this work with the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner and the Victim Care Unit team into 2016.
